As part of the build up to the release of Dynamics GP 2015 R2 this June, Microsoft has been sending out tantalizing daily emails, each revealing a new “feature of the day” that will be included in the upgrade. We here at TGO Consulting have been excitedly watching for these emails to get the scoop on the latest and greatest from Microsoft – and we decided you might like to get a sneak peek into this summer’s new release, too! So here are just a few of the features you can expect in the upcoming upgrade.

Workflow – Payables Transaction Approval
How many different ways can you choose from to approve payables transactions? Dynamics GP 2015 R2 will allow for 4 methods, giving you the flexibility you need to suit your unique business workflow. You’ll now be able to approve transactions individually in the Payables Transaction Entry window, through email notification or navigation lists, or using the PM Batch Approval.

Scriptable Provisioning and Management
Reducing the risk of error is always a good thing, and the people behind Dynamics GP know it. That’s why they have added APIs and PowerShell cmdlets to their app to automate its provisioning and management in the cloud. This makes the app faster and lessens the need for your employees to be involved in this domain – which saves money and prevents human errors from throwing a wrench into the system.

Employee Self-Service – W-2
No one likes to wait to file their taxes till they get their W-2 – if you’re expecting a refund, you want to get that tax return filed as soon as possible! So GP R2 now allows employees to view and print their own W-2, providing you with one less thing that has to be done manually – and giving employees the flexibility to file their taxes whenever they want.

Workflow – Document Attachment
Have you ever attached a document to a record in GP, but wished you could also send it along with the workflow task notification email, so that the person approving it could see the original document in full? Well, now you can! In PM Batch Approval, Purchase Order Approval, Purchase Requisition Approval, Vendor Maintenance, and Payables Transaction Approval, you can now scan in invoices or other records to send to the approver as attachments to that email.

Time Management App
Imagine if your employees could enter their own vacation and sick time into Payroll in GP, or enter their time off against Benefit Timecodes in HR! How much time and effort would that save? And how much more time and effort would it save if they could do this from their mobile device? There’s an app for that, and it’s the new GP Time Management App, available for Windows 8, iOS iPad devices, and Android tablets.

Time Management App – Entering Time
Within that same app, employees can also see a summary of their available balance of time off, as well as old timecards from up to two months prior, in addition to the most recently submitted timecards. This way every employee can easily see where he or she stands, without having to ask Human Resources to check for them.
